Chinara Wyke

UChicago School of Medicine

“As a pre-med undergraduate student, being a part of WIM has shown and given me hope of being my authentic self as a woman in medicine.

For a long time, I thought I would have to compromise myself and my personal goals to achieve my dreams of being an OBGYN.

A consistent narrative I was told was that I would have to negotiate on having a relationship, kids, hobbies, etc. However, this organization has shown me that I can be a successful mother, dancer, friend, and more while being a woman in medicine.

Being a woman in medicine means bringing your authentic self because that is your most valuable asset to the field’s future.”
